Pioneer sa-8500
Oxidation on switches and controls is a common cause of static, intermittent operation, and channel loss in vintage audio equipment. A thorough cleaning restored this receiver to proper operation.
Kenwood kr-9600
Along with repairing the output amplifier stage to restore the failed audio channel, the chassis was completely refinished. Rust and old paint were stripped to bare metal before applying a multi-coat primer and textured finish, giving the receiver a like-new appearance.
Technics sl-1200mk2
The iconic pop-up target light helps DJs cue records in low-light environments. The original incandescent bulb is a common failure point and can be costly to replace, so these turntables were upgraded with a long-lasting, low-cost LED. The improvement in brightness is evident in the photos above.

ABOUT ME
My name is Matt Suttmeier, and I am the sole owner and operator of Crow's Nest Electronics.My journey in the world of HiFi audio started in the summer of 2022 when I worked on the assembly line for McIntosh Laboratory, a world renowned HiFi home theater brand. After that summer I interned in the engineering department for 2 1/2 years, learning all I could about the world of consumer audio electronics.This interest carried into my personal life and when I moved to Ithaca in 2025, I set about building my own HiFi system. After fixing a dead channel and restoring the chassis on a Kenwood KR-9600, I realized I greatly enjoyed the process of repairing audio equipment. After a year of doing various repair jobs for friends and family, I took the leap and started Crow's Nest in June of 2026.Today, I specialize in diagnosing, repairing, and restoring vintage and modern audio equipment, helping customers keep their favorite gear performing at its best.

PRICING
Estimate Fee: $45
Estimate fees are collected at the time the unit is recieved from the customer.
The estimate fee is non-refundable and will be applied against the repair total if you approve the repair.
Labor Rate: $60/hr
Labor includes dissassembly, part procurement, repair, cleaning, testing, and reassembly.
Replacement parts are billed separately from labor.
All repairs performed by Crow's Nest Electronics are covered by a 30-day service warranty commencing upon return of the equipment to the customer.
